Abstract
Spontaneous scattering noise is incorporated as a build-up source in a fully transient stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) model. This powerful simulation tool is successfully applied for a quantitative investigation of the fluctuations in the output pulse duration of SBS pulse compressors. The predictions of this model are experimentally verified in a two-stage SBS compressor. © 2005 The American Physical Society.
